Iran Congressional Briefing

Mina Entezari at the Capitol – Nov. 2022

Support Nationwide Uprising for a Democratic Iranian Republic

Hello everyone,

let me thank you all members of Congress and also you compatriot freedom lovers.

My name is Mina Entezari, a former political prisoner in Iran for 7 years, and Human Rights activist in exile for more than 3 decades.

As a member of Iranian-American community in Arizona, I gratefully attended this meeting at the US Congress to support the Iranian uprising for Freedom, Democracy and Peace in a republic Iran.

So far, more than 560 protesters including dozens of children have been brutally murdered and more than 30 thousand have been arrested by the regime’s security and suppressive forces.

Based on my past experiences in notorious Evin prison, those inmates are extremely under pressure and torture like beating to death and so on.

We also got informed that some of those prisoners, have been sentenced to death including known artists.

We all know this brutal regime is capable of committing any crime such as mass executions, like the horrible massacre of political prisoners that they committed in Summer of 1988.

During that massacre, although I barely survived and left the country, but I lost all my cellmates and beloved friends who were affiliated with the main Iranian opposition movement, the MEK.

So, I urge the international community and specifically the US Congress, to stop murderer Mullahs by sanctioning them and not giving them any relief or legitimacy. US Congress should recognize the basic right of self-defense for Iranian people and the freedom fighters who are in the streets every day and recognize the right of the Iranian people to overthrow this repressive regime.

We are here to echo the voice of a revolution in the making in Iran, especially the women, who have been leading this struggle for freedom, for decades.

Finally, I would like to resound this message from Mrs. Maryam Rajavi and all those brave women that: we Can, and we Must stand up and fight for our Rights, for freedom, democracy, and equality.

Thank you all for the time given to me.
